Bonjour from Norway
Hello!
I found your forum through blackholsun´s excellent site: http://www.blackholesun.fr/en/37-en/my- ... -arai-xv01
I bought my first Tamiya, a Hornet around 1987? And then saved up to buy a Boomerang. They have been with me in a box for many years, and last year I decided to see if I could get them running again. A new battery was really everything they needed.
I love how the battery technology has improved! I remember charging my batteries from the car battery, sometimes they melted :bizarre: And they lasted about 7 minutes Now they charge easier, and last forever!!!
And ESC´s is also a great improvement So I kept upgrading the Boomerang with ball bearings, ESC, faster motor (still brushed though) and CVD´s. Now it runs great!
I feel a little embarrassed while running the car around the neighbourhood, the dog walkers look at me funny Sometimes I bring my daughter as an alibi.
I love off road the best, with sand! But I have always dreamt of owning a rally car. I think it was the old Celica which caught my eye, but I never got around to owning one. So now I have bought a used XV-01! It´s great! I am in the process of upgrading it slightly.

Yes, that is where my nick name came from. I have had it for so long, I don´t really remember why I chose it, but JR is one of my favourite villains.
I forgot to mention, that you should feel free to answer in french, because Google Translate works very well!

Stupid question: how do I post photos? Do I have to use Photobucket or similar?

Re: Bonjour from Norway
Not a stupid question: yes you need a third-party host to publish photos.
Here's one: http://www.vintage-rc.net/forum/viewtop ... 35&t=24239
